Taipei Samplus staff
working at Yamatomichi Kamakura / Kyoto in Japan
In Taipei, we have a partner* store, Samplus. They carry our full lineup of products and is also our HLC Taiwan team.
We wanted our Taipei friends to work with us in Japan and give them an opportunity to interact with Japanese hikers and with our staff.
Taiwan is home to vast and beautiful mountainous regions, with several peaks rising above 3,000 meters. Additionally, from central Taipei, casual hikers are very accessible, making it an attractive destination for day hikes.
We look forward to having the Taiwan team to work with us and experience Yamatomichi’s activities firsthand, exchange ideas on-site. We encourage you to visit our store during their stay.
*Samplus is co-managed by three parties: COW Records, a select shop in Taipei; Raying Studio, the design studio of KOH BODY (Hung Pao-Ti), who handles Yamatomichi’s graphic art; and Yamatomichi. Additionally, for those considering hiking in Taiwan, Yamatomichi offers a service in collaboration with local guide companies to assist foreign hikers in obtaining the necessary permits for high-altitude mountain treks in Taiwan. For more details, please refer to this page(currently only in Japanese).

Hey there! Junki here. This time, I really want you to get to know the amazing staff at Samplus, our incredible partners. Just thinking about the possibility of you heading to Taiwan for a hiking trip after this experience gets me super excited (haha).
A message from Kay - Samplus Staff
Hello, my name is Kay. I’ve been working at Samplus since 2018. While I’ve had many opportunities to meet Yamatomichi’s founders, Natsume-san and Yumiko-san, in Taiwan, I’ve rarely had the chance to meet the Yamatomichi staff from Japan. The thought of reconnecting with Japanese customers I’ve met at Samplus and engaging with even more Japanese hikers through this opportunity makes me really excited.
Taiwan’s geographical environment is unique. Despite being a subtropical country, the pressure from tectonic plates has created high-altitude terrains, leading to diverse plant environments. Hiking in Taiwan’s majestic Baiyue (hundred peaks) and suburban mountains offers a beauty that truly soothes the soul. I’m also looking forward to sharing more about Taiwan’s hiking culture with everyone.
My hobbies include listening to music and watching cute cat videos. I started hiking in 2015 and began my journey into ultralight hiking after joining Samplus in 2018.
