HLC Hokuriku

The Gate Mountain, located in Fukui, serves as an HLC Place*, led by our youngest ambassador, store manager Riku Yamamoto. They offer a wide range of programs that take full advantage of the stunning natural landscapes of the Hokuriku region.

*Yamatomichi HLC PLACE is the hub for our HLC activities in each area. It will serve as a place to hold programs, meet and exchange knowledge with other ultralight hikers.

Riku Yamamoto山本陸

HLC Hokuriku ambassador

In his early twenties, a colleague introduced him to the outdoors through trail running, sparking his passion. In 2017, while circumnavigating Japan, he encountered the Yamatomichi team during an HLC tour in Hokkaido, where he was captivated by the ultralight hiking culture and its close-knit community. After completing his journey, he played a key role in the launch of The Gate Mountain. Based in the Fukui and Hokuriku regions, he enjoys hiking and trail running during the warmer seasons, and telemark skiing in the winter.
